Letter from God
In September 2018 the church staff and several key leaders went on a “22 Hour Listening Prayer Retreat” with the goal of hearing from the Lord and determining God’s next steps for our Church. The following letter is a result of the time spent in prayer. In this season between Easter and Pentecost (June 9th) you are encouraged to pray and ask God what your role is with regards to the letter.
Dear Children of my community church whom I love;
You have been faithful, when you are in worship it causes rejoicing in heaven. You are large in my eyes. It pleases me that you don’t chase after glory for your church, but glory and honour to me: you desire to bring honour to my name. You have kept going in the ebb and flow.
It is my desire that you grow up in faith and in knowledge and understanding of me. Hold a high standard in regards for prayer. There are hidden flames. I desire that they burn bright.
I know that you desire/want to be a presence in your community, but that is a result that comes when you humble yourselves and seek my face. Trust me, trust my plan. (Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.) If you grow in this way, I will send you out into the streets to proclaim the Kingdom of God and the Good News of Jesus.
To embrace the work that I have for you, you need to experience my way of Church. It only needs me, so let my Holy Spirit take up residence in all you do. Look only for my approval.
Tell, share and speak. Do not send anyone out who is unprepared and not full of the Holy Spirit.
If you do not stop, listen and be in my presence you will be just a community service. You will go alone. I am an all-consuming fire. Your fuel will run out.
If you follow my instruction then I will refine you in unprecedented ways. You will be such a blessing and there will be an outpouring of my Spirit unlike anything you have seen and it will flow out from you/your church.
Let me carry you. My joy and peace will be your strength. There will be life (if you follow me). The time is coming when others will look to you for counsel and leadership. Something new is coming.
Love, God
